Tamiya DMD units

Post by windpower »

Hi All
O.K. , so Tamiya produce the DMD (Digital Twin-Motor differential unit) for controlling the std. two motors in all of the present Tamiya tanks. They also produce different MF (Multi-function Units) for their various tanks. Now my question is ; WHY do they produce different DMD units when all that the unit does (as far as I'm aware) is to control the speed / direction of the tank in question? Yes , I can understand the various MF units for sounds etc.etc. but surely ONE std. DMD would be fine , no ? Debate please Thanks Mark :haha:

Because they can, and they sell them :/ ;)

Yes tamiya have got there sales heads on when it comes to there products ! Just like when you break a body part on one of there tanks you end up having to buy the compleat spur that the part is on!!!. When it comes down to it tamiya could of made an unit that works the motors and all the other functions all in one unit! And a sound card that you could buy separate with the sounds of the tank you want to use it in!!! But they know that buy having a unit with just the sounds for the tank you have makes sure you have to buy another unit for your new build !! Clever tamiya!!!! ;D

As for the DMD units I don't know what the difference is in the numbers on them? Maybe you can use more powerful motors ? Can some one on here answer that one!!
