I thought those were Asiatam Gearboxes,you might consider running them in with valve grinding compound. Mine are over two years old and still will drag a stock tank uphill behind my Tiger. The decal options are very limited,that is why custom decals seem the way to go,the set up cost and learning the graphic software was a challenge but the possibilities are endless.

Have you looked at the camo pattern section for King Tigers? their are many versions posted their.Here is the link.

Added a bit of detail tonight, the overflow pipes and the commander's sighting guide, just needed a paper clip, wire cutters, file, a 0.8mm drill and a steady hand!

There hasn't been much happening on the build over the last week, my job took me to Germany for a short while, but before I went I found that the main gun recoil wasn't working. I've dismantled the turret and carried out some checks, looks like the recoil motor is duff . Since being back I got in touch with Kin at Tankzone, a replacement motor is on its way, FOC, . Here's some pics of the turret in bits, it came apart with no problems, and there is a lot of space in the rear of the turret just crying out for something to be done with it!

Small tip, after running the tank, shut it down with the recoil in the back position, the spring tends to stretch if you leave it in the forward position for too long. Great build so far.

I purchased the exact same tank, albeit in RTR format, fully assembled & painted, with the wooden transit box a few months ago (see my reveiw elseware on this sight - "Torro King Tiger Professional Metal Edition") from Kin.

Mine is also the IR version

As regards to running outside, don`t worry

Mine goes through long grass, over rough ground, and up steep grassy slopes with no problems whatsoever - and turning etc. is fine, so it definetly has the 3:1 motors and proper high torque motors fitted - really cracks on to

The heavy (90 percent metal) construction comes into it`s own with this type of outside running.

As I said in my previous post, I reckon fine detail and general performance wise, it is superior to my old (now sold) Tamiya King Tiger in every respect, and all for about half the price

This is such a finely detailed tank it would really be a shame to paint it. As for running,I would agree that the heavier tanks with proper gearbox run more like a tank.
