Alternate firing of coaxial and bow machine gun on Tiger 1?

Post by tanks_for_the_memory »

Just a thought... I'm a dud at electronics. But is there any (simple) way to rig up my Tiger so both machine guns can fire alternately: i.e. some sort of trip switch which would allow me to join both in the same circuit but fire a few seconds each at a time? Just thought I would ask the boffins!

Hi tanks_for_the_memory,
The simple answer is YES it is possible, using relays you can then alternate the way that the current flows and so which machine gun it activated....The Alternating is the simplest.......NOW I have a sinking feeling that you are going to ask me for a circuit diagram o- ............If yes. then I am goingto have to think about it...because I am not as bright as I used to be.....I think that 6 Volt relays will do.....some car 12 Volt relays can be activated by our 7.2 Volts. I know because I have used them....BUT ....some can't........ so 6 Volt is a safer bet !...they are also MUCH smaller and cheaper to buy..but you will need to solder the conections, they only have single metal pins instead of 'spade-connectors' as they are designed for circuit boards. ( I guess that you could find 6 Volt car or bike relays but they are expensive and are really too bulky for our tanks.)
