My PzII-C

Post by pzrwest »

Here are a few pics of my PzII-C that I converted from the DML PzII-B kit. I modified the sprockets, road wheels, return rollers, and idler wheels so they would rotate. I replaced the kit mg34 with the armored mg34 from the Wittman-Woll figure set. I copied most of the details from the PzII-C that is in the Ottawa museum. I replaced the plastic jack block with one made out of stained basswood with brass metal parts. I removed the details on the engine hatches so they would resemble the Ottawa one, and made the hinges functional. My friend Jack(a member of the OOSC) saw the finished tank and just had to have it so I'm now in the process of building another of these DML kits. Would have loved to weather and take some pics of it outside but didn't get a chance to before Jack scooped it up....LOL....As always comments are welcomed.... Harold

Very nice Pz II. Are you going to weather it at all or are you leaving it "Factory Fresh"?

I'm going to start mine over the Xmas holidays as I'm trying to get my Kettenkrad, Hetzer, Pak 36 all finished before then.

Thanks Antony

The PzII-C in the pics above now belongs to my good friend Jack and will stay the way it is, I've now started a second PzII-C for myself. Seems everytime a build something new, Jack just has to have it ...LOL. The day he picked it up, Jack and I drove down to the dealer close to me and picked up another of these nice kits. It too will have moveable running gear and the mods I did to this PzII-C.

Hi Harold,

I've now got a Panzer II and I want to make it RC. How did you modify the sprockets, road wheels, return rollers, and idler wheels. I can see to replace the plastic bushings with bearings, but how did you keep the them from falling off.

Appreciate your help,

Sarah

Hi Harold,

Thanks for the link, I might see if I can adapt it so I can use ball races. I need to find a motor and gearbox now.

Regards,

Sarah
