maintanence

Post by wadsworth john »

Hi All.
I need some help.
Having just purchased my first tank, a heng long.tiger, i recieved it with a damaged barrel, and although
a new one is quickly on its way, i find that there appears to be no way to get at it, to replace it.
Can anyone please advise me how to go about it. and on a 1to10, how difficult job would it be.
I have a usefull amount of modelling experience, but have never dealt with these beasts before.
As anyone who has one will know, the instructions are only fit to wipe your mother in laws bum
with.
Cheers John.

Hi John.

On difficult scale it is quite straight forward.

(this is from memory so hopefully correct)

1 - Remove both tracks. Some people remove the pins to seperate them, I prefer to roll tracks round the idle wheel (last one at back) with a slight sideways pressure.

2 - Tank upside down. On the bottom there is a screw at the front in the middle and two at back by the battery cover release. Remove these and keep safe.

3 - Then there is three on each side above the road wheels (this why the tracks come off) push screwdriver between wheels to get at them. You'll notice one side has five screws. two of them hold the speaker, just remove same as other side.

4 - That gets the top off. You'll notice a connector underneath the top unplug that and also the ariel lead (there is a joint in the wire under the heat shrink bit). You'll then find a 2 wire coming off the cannon to the controller unplug this.

5 - With the top upside down you see a big gear/cog under the turret with three screws remove this to release the turret. You might find there is still 3 wires you can't unplug so you can unsolder or just have a bit of caution and pull them for some slack.

6 - Now turn turret upside down and there is five screws, remove them to remove the bottom to gain access to the turret etc.

From there I think you should figure it out.

Hope that helps.
