Yeah I think it be a good thing as you say meet local people to exchange ideas help etc.
Only negative I can say is I don't like to put to much personnel information onto public domian as I've had bad experience with my WiFi been hacked previously which left me open to dodgy lawer companies threatening me unless I paid them a few (£hundreds) all because their spent a few hours searching the internet with my details and building up information on me. But that is just my view I know others are more freely open.
So maybe leave it a it generic i.e. county or major city. Then can always expand further through PM etc.
