Ready made internal antennae for HL tanks

Post by Mackem »

Found this over on hobby havoc:- http://hobbyhavoc.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=68
I know it's a simple DIY mod, but that unit looks very neat and I would definitely buy it if one of the lads over here decided to start
making them, hint hint.

I may be wrong (apologies if I am) but if you click on the "larger image" on that page it says at the bottom "designed in Canada byHarold Jones " Isn't that our old friend panzerwest? Isn't he a member on here too?

If it is panzerwest, he's a member on "that other site" sorry.

Just done a ball park enquiry for 4 antennae, registered post from oz and it works out ot just over £37, not too bad, our money is actually worth something over there!

If he's a member here then perhaps a 'deal' could be done.  ;)

fv432, mate, By anything metal do you mean literally ANYTHING, wheels, tracks tools etc on the tank or  are you talking cars, oil drums or bikes in between you and the receiver? I like the idea and saw his home made jobby on the rcu forum yonks back, it seemed hit and miss with some people, if this sorts that problem I would defo be interested, I hate seeing a huge out of scale aerial on tanks. Perhaps we can turn him from the darkside and get him to join us?

If I can be of help just let me know. I have install my antenna mod in all of my HL tanks and have zero problems with the mod. As with any antenna any metal shielding will affect it. In my Tigers I mounted the antenna coil in the back port corner on the rear bulkhead or on the left rear sponson deck. In my Pzr3 I mounted it mid-way vertically on the right side of the hull. I have range tested both the tigers and the pzr3 and get about 100yds range line of sight.
