The RX 18 ???

On using the Diode on the 18.....my board does not look quite like the one in the video....my 18 has a third smaller board that is soldered horizontally like an roof over what seems to be the motor control circuits.

I know what you mean and my RX18 is the same so should work.

RATZ!!!!!!

I thought it was cuz I did not have a fully charged battery but this morning after charging my batt for 4.0 hrs anything 'MOTOR' driven would not run .....well at least the smoke unit and the drive motors....the L motor turns but not at full speed....only when in TURN mode....the R Motor wants to but has to be coaxed.

I put a straight 6.0 DC V to the smoke unit und it ran just fine.

Has anyone else seen this in a RX-18?

I would suggest checking the obvious things like wiring, connections, soldering, battery voltage.

I found with mine one of the motor plugs comes loose so the tracks turn when lifted off the ground but wouldn't when on the ground and the plug looked solid.

Everything is tight. No problems. The new motors had the proper plug ins for the new board already.

At least I got the unit for free.

Any other ideas? anyone ...anyone.....Bueller?

If you have gone through all the stuff tankbear talked about, and you say you can find no faults. The only other thing you might try is a new Tx (but thats a real long shot). But its looking like the rx18 has a fault some where with in is board.

Yes I agree with you and being that the 18 is ultra Solid State in a BIG WAY I would not know where to start and even if I did find a bad diode or Resistor......surface mount and 'super' fine soldering is not my thing.

This may sound nutz but I have TWO matching 03 crystals and the old receiver and Board....the Drive Motors worked just fine on the original system.

SO......I split the Incoming power and did a test run.....ALL the better functions work on the new 18.....the old unit powers the Drive system just fine and everything works 100%!

I still made everything plug and play so till I can get the EL Mod system or a new 18 I have enough room in my hull to to it! I'm not using the smoker as it does not look 100% right
and ( by factory means ) it runs constantly - using precious battery life.

I did the Diode jump and it worked great!

Call me nuts but what the heck it works!

Too bad the Barrel Elevation sound is the same as the Turret L & R......still the 18 sounds and actions are a huge improvement from the 13 and 14.

Now that I have a green light on all the inner functions ....its time to prep und Paint! COOL!
