Hi Beobachtungsbereich,
Just a possible solution to your problem of the 'Removed with a wood-saw' mudguards.....if you go off the idea of making them or it is too hard then simply sand the side of the Tiger flat and run it without the mudguards. There are plenty of photos of Tigers without any fitted, here are a couple of shots for you.

That would be a great solution. All I'd have to come up with is 1:16 bolts. Hmmm.

The small scale bolts are not a problem...but you have to buy them in the USA. I bought them in STAINLESS STEEL :- 100 x 2-56 5/32 x0.060 nuts for $3.25 and 100 x 2-56x 3/8 hexhead machine screws for $5.80
The dimensions in Metric are 3MM across the heads of the set screws and the nuts. The Bolt is 10MM in total length and the shaft is about 2MM. I wanted them to look large and purposeful on a Tiger 1 that I am modifying and these nut and bolts are intended to hold on extra turret roof armour. Multiplying it ups to normal size from scale, the nut head is 48MM across and the shaft is 32mm which I think is just fine for my scale purpose.
The company that suplied them is called MICRO FASTENERS ...and I rang them to place the order andthe lady was really helpful. This is a link to their site and they do a whole range of sizes...and compared to over here, the prices are unbeatable

The Postage to France was $3.04 so the total was $12.09 .....That is 7.93 pounds delivered to my door ....I checked on Ebay etc and NO-ONE could come close in price.

I'm looking at an ad on eBay and it says it has the following:

As far as I know HL only makes either Air soft version or the recoil version...not both.

Can anyone here shed some light on this? I'm thinking about buying another and using the one I just bought as spare parts, seeing as the plastic gear let go on me whilst playing with my 2.5 year old son.

He was not impressed, nor I.

The "RECOIL EFFECT" is the tank "Jerk Back"motion,if you press the fire button your tank will demonstrate this. But it is not barrel recoil with airsoft. Although this has been done before and was once a product being sold by a now closed business.

The new Tanks with airsoft have a limit switch mounted on the gun,when the Left joystick is moved forward to fire the main gun the Tank recoil effect happens, which is fine if the barrel is aimed forward then it seems real. But point the barrel any other way it is just sad.

True enough, just never hear of the airsoft having all those features included in one package before.

It would certainly help in building an accurate Tiger from what I have now. Trying to track down specific items to rebuild the skits is proving to be quite the pain in the ass. I've been in touch with some of our techs on the base to see if they have some scrap and it's pretty hard to find these day.

I may getting this wee beast if it fills the bill, so to speak.

Run without skirts I say ....or stick Tamiya ones on from Jasons Store e_bay store .....

Buying a whole new TIGER seems like a bit of Overkill mate.................just run it without the mudguards...buy the bolts that you need ..and spend the extra money on a Panther or a Panzer III ...........That Tiger of yours is easily salvaged !
If you are a bit concerned about sanding 'too much' off the rest of the hull side then protect it with some thin plasticard and tape it in place....this way if you do slip a bit as you sand away the 'Stumps' left by the PO, there is no harm done......You could even use an electric sander ..CAREFULLY....but I might be tempted to buy a 1 pound metal tape measure and cut it with a pair of sissors into strips that can be used instead of plasticard and taped to the side.....This way the electric sander cannot harm the rest of the hull side..especially if you are carefull and check how much has been removed on a regular basis

Thanks Dietrich for the pointers, but the deed is done.

My wife actually saw the page open and asked why I was looking at it. Told her I was thinking about buying it, but more or less looking for replacement parts and an upgrade to the electronics.

Whilst I was busy tearing into the Tiger to see what was the matter, she bought the Tiger lock stock and barrel without me knowing about it. She told me this morning.

Shocked the shit out of me!

Maybe I should leave the Tamiya Leopard2A6 page up for a few days, might result in something for Christmas.

Good thing though, the board was not in very good shape and showed clear signs of overheating. Found one connection very close to de-soldering. The gear was completely stripped from the shaft so no more right turns at all. Tried to fix it but no joy. Wonder what the previous owner did to it to put it in such poor shape.

Meh, now it's spare parts...unless I feel up to doing a complete job on it and then have 2 Tigers to have fun with.

Now I have to start doing some research on paint schemes for NW Europe circa 1944/45.

FREAKIN' SWEET..... it showed up today!

It smokes, shoots, sound is typical HL, has the recoil effect. Has a neat effect of simulated inertia as well, which caught me off guard.

Came with the plastic track and sprocket/ idler combo with the metal gear box installed. The gun has been corrected as was the pistol port orientation.

Looking a the parts bag I'm kind of perplexed. There's a few extra things in there that I'm not too sure about and I want to do this correctly, including the bedding in of the gearbox and the track/ sprockets. The links that I've seen thus far does not get into specifics on how to do this with such a later model panzer.

Any help would be much appreciated.
