Beobachtungsbereich - CF Tanker
New to the forum.
Bit of a back ground on me. Been in the Cdn Forces for a 22 years. Been in a tank crew for most of them.
Done a few of tours, last couple in Afghanistan and the last one I was a tank commander of a Leo2A6(M) bombing around Zhari/ Panjwaii in Kandahar province.
Seen some stuff, did some stuff...delivered a few 120mm rounds to some people who deserved it. Still finding poo dust in my kit. LOL
New to the RC tank hobby. Looking to upgrade and make my 1/16 scale PzKwIV Aus G a bit more realistic.
Regards

Welcome to the forum, Interesting background. Look forward to your build. Have you considered the Leo as a build subject? A few guys have them on this forum.

The Antenna are very interesting, the center one has three canisters are they some type of frequency synthesizers ,or some type of amplifiers? Of course don't give away any military secrete
,but a similar issue is German Command tanks used two radio sets and a distinctive antenna,is this picture an example of a command tank?
The canvas command hatch cover is this detail a field modification or a standard desert issue detail? We just don't have alot of first hand armor warfare accounts, and for the modeller these details are important.

Dude, they are empty water bottles to hold glowsticks for night ops. Every panzer had them and every panzer had 3 antennas. It's called redundancy, and in a firefight your antennas are open to being hit, it's good to have redundancy.Saxondog wrote:The Antenna are very interesting, the center one has three canisters are they some type of frequency synthesizers ,or some type of amplifiers? It's an umbralla and comes as standard issue with the Barracuda kit. When the noon day sun peaks at temps of 50C or more outside and well over 65C inside, a little shade allows the crew to be combat effective. Looks gay as hell, but 57C out and 45C in the shade....The canvas command hatch cover is this detail a field modification or a standard desert issue detail? When I save the cash I'll be getting one and doing it up like my old ride. I'm doing one now in 1:35 and it's costing me a shitload.

Thanks fo the insight, the RC TANKS as you can tell do not reflect the realism of the practical side of the real tanks. I posted the pictures because of the differences in the two offerings,150.00 for Hobby engine version and of course the overprice 850.00 for the Tamiya.
Their are many upgrades, and I'm sure we all understand the cost effects,3 years for me and 4 tanks later. My first a Heng Long Tiger cost alot by the time I had replicated the tank I was modelling.
Enjoy the forum, Saxondog
