Yuka's Nightmare Sherman IVBY

Post by Spookayuka »

And so it begins...

Now that Commander Chubby has moved into a new office, I have the space to start this build.

Sadly, thanks to some whining from Father (who was whined at by the club rep, and then whined at Mother, who then whined at myself), this will be, physically at least another stock build. I think this is both to satisfy the little 'arrangement' we have with the Old Boy Network, but also because I have never undertaken the sort of scratchbuilding which would be required to turn this into a genuine British late-war Sherman.

So, I present to you the building of Frankentsein's Ronson: a Sherman IVBY(105) of the 1st Battalion, Royal Tank Regiment. That this body probably never had any IVBYs is a minor matter, especially against the strong possibility that no IVBYs may have made it into action with any regiment.

I am putting this inconsistency down to Spouse/Parent pressure and the fact that I did not have to pay for this beuaty.

The things a girl will do for a quiet life........

Thanks, Andy. This is proving far more difficult than I had hoped. Challenging, though, so I am not saying I am unhappy.

A slight change though, is the scheme/Regiment. I am now working on an Italian scheme.

Lovely. I've not seen any photos which give close-ups of the suspension before.

Thank you.

A slow build at the moment. No time for anything important.

However, a few small steps forward:

Basic painting and early weathering:

The majority of the scheme is now finished. Fine details and main weathering is begun, but I am holding off on the rest of the weathering till I have the correct unit markings in place.

Just adding the finished images to a 'show-off' thread for the wee lassy.
