I have added my comments to that thread.

I am not favourably impressed by this offering and have outlined why, in my response there.

It seems there are a couple otherr of references to the KT's on the internet.

http://abotoys.en.made-in-china.com/pro ... 3888-.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Production capability listed as 50,000/year

Another site;

http://pctoy.en.alibaba.com/product/463 ... _toys.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No mention of Waltersons on these sites.

Hi Blake,

thank you for the clarification. The Super version on Mato mart is the same version that you will see from Dave and myself. Essentially there was not much point purchasing an item with the standard gears. Although in the event of the customer upgrading their tank from the get go purchasing a slightly cheaper version might be wanted.

Regarding the numbers of King Tigers:

It is possible the pre-production run release, if that's what it is, numbered in the thousands. If that is true then there is a good chance that Heng Long will have started the supply up before the original run is depleted.

So the customer may not notice the gap in supply.

There have been problems, with my lot, more so than the usual Heng Long issues. A customer just pointed out to me that the plastic tow ropes are both for the same side and the track pull rope is missing. Upon checking the remaining items in stock I've found other tanks with this problem.

Now I know about this, I can correct it on an individual basis, but if anyone is buying from another source then I would recommend asking the vendor to double check not only if the tank works but if everything is there.

Regarding the bag thing, I am sure some people will appreciate it. For me I would prefer an external hardcase. I don't battle or move my tanks around but space is at a premium and it would be nice to put the tank in storage and not have to worry about it.

Or perhaps I just shouldn't buy myself so many tanks! :haha:
It is never just "one" tank!

Been a Alibaba Member for many years,the issues becomes getting the product to your location,FOB Pricing and customs. Some years back we tried a group buy through a vendor/member and the prices were not worth the hassles.

Your first link supplier does offer single quantity purchase,I've asked for a quote based on UK and US address,will post the results.

As far a Waltersons, they would not be listed as a supplier. Alibaba was set up to ensure safe purchasing, many bogus suppliers surfaced over the years. But through their site legitimate suppliers are posted,or as legitimate as their background inquiries allow.

They also list many nice Aviation,and ship kits/models in larger scales. Their are 1/6 and 1/8 tanks available through this site as well as ships in 1/200 1/150 and a few 1/40 scale models.

I was trying to check into every source I could on the subject and found those two links, I must admit, as can be seen, I am not very well versed on internet marketing.

The bottom line is that I if they are going to mess with the marketing of this model, I am not favourably impressed.

I deal with Mato, I am quite happy with doing so. I would be quite happy to buy the version Mato is currently listing in Canada, for the price they are offering at.

If someone thinks I will pay more money for something with plastic gears, with paint and a case I don't need, they are mistaken.

It wil all come good in the finish Glen..if it doesn't then there sales figures will just go down. Its realy as simple as that.
I would like to see 2 version..One which is sold as more or less a basic shell ,no paint no bb plastic gears etc etc. Then us modelers can fit what we want with in that tank.With out paying a premium in the 1st place for that tank. Knowing over 1/2 the equipment will be junked anyway. Then the other version were people just want a ready to run with all the bits in ,(that we modelers just throw away anyway). Just my 2p worth ;)

Does it look like Welsh Dragon will be selling the Waltersons KT?

The picture shows the HL KT in the multi-colour camo but please note this description on the link;

DUE BACK IN STOCK SOON - ORDERS NOW BEING TAKEN!

Please note actual colour is brown/yellow camoulflage, not the colour scheme illustrated.

Hi Glen,

I received my HL King Tiger from Steve at Welshdragon today :D , it came in standard Heng Long packaging. It runs great, it has the usual HL sounds and out of sync recoil ( I bought the IR version), at first glance there don't seem to be too many inaccuracies though, some detail missing from the top of the turret and engine deck but nothing which can't be sorted with a bit of styrene! Already had it apart as the sound wasn't working, six screws underneath and the top of the hull comes off, no messing about having to take the tracks off to get at hidden screws! :clap: Problem was a wire off on the volume control, quick dab of solder and back in action. Not sure about the colour scheme HL have chosen but it won't be staying that way forever ;)

Best regards

Steve
