New to the world of RC tanks

Post by Chompski63 »

Hi everyone and thanks to M@tDragon for the welcome.

I live in Brisbane, Australia, and have been making 1/35 models for a while but the size of 1/16 seems fantastic. The sound, the moving and all the moding. Although new to RC tanks I've gone in in a big way (for my budget anyway). I have so far, 3 Heng Long tanks; Tiger, Panzer III and a KV1. I am in the process of gutting them all and putting RX18 boards in the Tiger and KV1 as they didn't come with them and making these IR as well.

I have been working on the Tiger adding a Mato metal base, wheels, tracks and new gearboxes. Now trying to work out where to put my switches and access the battery. That is why I originally came to your site. But the thread seems to be broken when I follow the links to see the how a fellow modeller did his. But many more links work and this site is quite a good resource.

Seeing what other enthusiasts have done I have a lot to learn, but loving the hobby so far. I have dragged my 16 year old son into it too.

Would love to make some really less mainstream tanks, SU76 and maybe other tank destroyer models. Working through plans and the best materials to do this with. First I have to finish what I have, I only have so much time and money. :)

Here are some links for some conversion kits, unfortunately they cost a bit depending on the model...

Hi Chompski63,
Welcome to the Forum
Thank you for telling us that some of the links are broken....if possible could you tell me of the ones that you remember and I will try to get them sorted out. There is a search box located in the top right hand corner of the main forum banner which may be of help. If you cannot find the answer then just start a post and you can be sure that someone will come along to help very soon.
