yes you are correct M3..if you get a set it will cover you all the way up to M5 .

If you have a Machine Mart near you they do sets for good value.

yes they sound good..but you will still need a handel to use the tap..like in this set this goes from m3 to m12 tap and dies..

plus the set or singel tap or die is only as good as the materials used. i know this type of set will still cut threads after one use unlike some, some so called thread cutters will not even cut the 1st thread with out messing up.

I just put in battery drill and go slowly. Admitidly with larger taps like M6 upwards so might snap the smaller ones.

Good point about a getting a set, that way have a range to suit most requirements I encounter.

The angle of the cutting blades are not designed to run at high speed. you will do more damage than good. They have been designed to be used at hand turning speed where you apply a steady but firm pressure ,cutting and backing out.,neither of which you will achieve using a drill not matter how slow you think you can make it go.

I would hate to see you wreck what you were trying to do costing you even more money to fix it.

grub screw size for you allen key is 1.5 ..they don't do a smaller fitting on them..

Oh but they do, you can get 1.27mm as already stated. The ansmann pinion could well be imperial thread, and that could be a 50 or 63 thou allen key.
