h/l troubles

Post by can opener »

hello everyone
i am not sure what the big deal is with the h/l tanks. i kind of inherited 4 of them from a coworker, he was so taken by my smaller scale i/r tanks he went out and bought 4 1/16 h/l and after a few months gave them to me. i seem to have been working on them ever since.
can any body tell me where i can find a new nylon body for the tiger 1 airsoft gun/ gear box as this one is all broken up, is this common or could this be just one more reason my coworker got fed up?

Hi Can Opener.

The Heng Long tanks are known to have a few problems with quality. :O

I think (well for me at least) the interest in these tanks are a) price, b) modifying/upgrading to make unique. Hence the large range of aftermarket upgrades available.

Unfortinately the basic plastic ones do break easy specially if abused, so if you co-worker used expecting them to be a hard as real tank then that will explain the problems.

As for buying replacements, if you look under certified vendors at the top you'll find some which have excellent customer service and are highly recommended. Or alternately there is fleabay, just put heng long in the search and go through the list.

If you Tiger 1 has many faults it might be easier to buy a new one (I paid £60) and use the broken one as spare parts. As most of the parts are shared between the models.

Hope that helps.

Hi Can Opener,

Try a search for http://www.Matomart.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, I believe they actually in Ontario so is probably quite handy for you. I have six or more tanks in my personal collection and have had no real problems indicating quality issues. I have had over 75 though my door in the last 6 months or so that have all suffered from user abuse or shipping damage.

They are plastic toys, fragile working toys at that and as long they are treated that way they will behave reasonably well. Earlier electronics are problematic but the tanks are generally solid.
It is never just "one" tank!

thankyou gentelmen . i will be looking into this some more, and have definite plans for the two panthers i recieved from my co worker but the kv 1 i am still unsure if i will restore it. the tiger 1 needed so much work as far as the paint went that i soda blasted it clean and started from fresh plastic. gave it a great surface to work with.
