Mato Tiger Hull experience

Post by davetola »

Hello all,
I am new to the RC Tank hobby, but I have built many models in the past. Recently I purchased the Mato Tiger Hull kit (329.00) US and I am dissappointed with the poor quality.
First, the hull had damaged locating pins for the motor. I repaired that by drilling and tapping a screw to fit. The brass motor gears had a missing set screw and ALL needed to be tightened.
Then I discovered that the suspension arms that have beveled screws was not machined correctly and the screws would not go in far enough. I had to retap ALL 16 holes in the hull.
The mounting plate was not drilled properly and NONE of the holes lined up with the hull mounting screws. I had to redrill the plate to get it to fit. Lastley (unless I discover more quality issues)
the caterpiller track was so poorly machined I could not get the pins to fit and ended up using the steel tracks from my Heng Long.
If I had known of the lack of quality contol of this product I would have sent it back after discovering the broken motor locating pins, and saved myself the trouble.
I expected a challange and looked forward to it but I do not expect such poor quality in something I payed over 300.00 USD for.
I would not and do not recommend this kit. :(

Welcome to the world of Rc..you get that in planes cars heli's etc.

Companys seems to get away with this sort of poor stuff in Rc as we don't complain enough.

Also after spending £____ on a model to find its wrong, off we go to get hopups to put it right..

Its wrong but, we can blame ourself in a lot of ways for the condition of models they make ,just expecting it and not send them back.

After all if that was a new family car you were buying would you say ok..or would you send that back ?

I'm surprised, I didn't think Americans put up with poor quality like this, unlike us Brits, who seem to turn the other cheek to have that one slapped as well, and then say thanks. " God I'm getting cynical " :-<
