My Hotmail address book has been hacked into by persons unknown, everyone in it will recieve an email sayingthat I am stranded in America and please send me £1200. I am not in America I am sat at home in the UK, there are a few people in my address book from this website that will get this email. IT IS A SCAM and is nothing to do with me so do not send any money!! Sorry that this is not about tanks but it could happen to you.

I have tried the embassy here but they are not responding to the matter effectively,i want you to know that i will pay you back as soon as i return,so kindly let me know if you can be of help so that i can send you the details you will use to send the money to me and i think the best way i can receive the money is viaWESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER. Get back to me and let me know any which way will be easier for you."

Although i can't access my Hotmail account as I have been locked out , my friend phoned me and told me about the email he had recieved. It is exactly the same as you have stated. I am sure most people would not fall for this scam but i didn't want to risk anyone losing money by falling for this. The more people are made aware of this the better. Best wishes Mark

Only kidding mate, we had our hotmail account hacked...and it took a whil to sort it out...another target is yahoo. The sister in laws account was hacked and she was sending messages when he computer was turned off and the ADSL line disconnected !!
Just foereveryones info....a good defence against these virus / bots or whatever they are called apparently is to go in and eddt your email address book.....at the beginning you add this ...
aaaaaaa@aaaaaaaa.com , I then added a second aaaaaaaaaaaaa@aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.com
and at the bottom of your address book..
zzzzzzzzz@zzzzzzzzzz.com and again I added a seconf again of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz@zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.com

This is supposed to work on the principle that these damn bot/virus things either start and the beginning or end of your address book and work through it. Obviously the aaaaaaaaaa and the zzzzzzzzzz will be undeliverable and so the thinlk gives up trying as it believes that your addess book is secure, or useless. I can see how it could work but I am prepared to be told otherwise.
