Interesting and Clever Modification..Tiger 1

Post by Panzerfaust »

Hello,
I have found this clever way of spliting the 'Top' off the Tiger 1 on another forum and I thought that it was worth posting the photographs of how it is done on here.
Instead of using the 'Normal' Heng Long split of hull and chassis the builder has removed only the Hull Deck from the front ( the MG / drivers position) ; back to the 'Front' of the engine covers. The rest of the Hull top and the chassis bottom are then glued and secured together to make a very strong box, particularly with the bracing that he puts in as well. The builder must do this as an occupation / sideline as he mentions that it is a 'Customers Tiger' I have copied all the re-inforcing photos as well as they are also interesting. He uses Fibreglass sheet but says that 2.5 to 3mm plasticard would work as well.
I am not sure how he cut through the deck so accurately but he could have used the 'Thread Cutting Method' as per this post that I found and that works very well, so long as you are careful ( Weight to foot = OWWW!! ) ask me how I know :{

My only concern would be accessing the rear idler adjusters if they ever needed to be removed but apart from that it looks like a very good solution. :thumbup:

Hi Dave,
Sorry I had no idea that Nigel was also with you :{ . I did not mean to tread on your toes with cpoying these photos across onto this forum.
Had you been intending to --duplicate this thread-- on this larger forum ,or were you just keeping it as a surprise when you were ready to take orders for these lovely decks ?
Do you have an idea of the price yet ?

Does that price include the hull or is it for the work done to customer provided hull?
