Hi Little dave, :~
This is a link to the way that 'Saxondog' did his cooling on his RX-18...He runs Graupner 400 Motors and has never had a single problem...even in Southern USA Summer Temperatures !
http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... +RX#p39722" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
.....also in the top right corner of the RCTANKWARFARE banner is a search facility...this should also produce somemore solutions. I have only the one motor which is glued onto the top of the RX-18 after removing the sticker. Then I basically cut away most of the side plastic of the case to just leave the clips to hold it together....I can send you photos if you would like to see.

    top left , RX 18 unit .
      Below that a 5v computer fan from Mapl*ns / fleabay ( 2 pin plug + leads from spares ) .
        Lower right , label removed and a hole cut into top case using a circle cutter .
          Top right , fan glued on , plug in smoker port - it needs the smoker switch to work , but it can be wired other ways , i.e. in line with the motors . Like this it becomes active when the engine start button is pressed . :wave:
          to the bouncy room ! Yay !

                  I'd wondered about fitting a fan inline between the motor and the RX18 - it sounds like that's what you've done, does everything work okay with a set up like this?

                  • Yes , it works well , even with it spliced onto the smokers pcb the extra current the fan draws is tiny , only a few milliamps , no problem .
                  BTW , I also have 3 to 1 gearboxes AND fuses ;) - 5 amp between the battery switch / RX line and 3 amp ones between the RX 18 and motors , which is sheer paranoia i know , but others have fitted them and they safeguard against an accidental short - or the real killer , a jammed track .

                  That sounds more sensible than paranoid :thumbup: What sort of fuses do you use? I mean, me being a bit of a numpty, all I can visualise is the bog-standard fuse you get in a mains plug :haha:
