Thanks Brian,
Next question, how does it work? Is it removed and fitted to the crank position below?

Hi Mic
No it stays in place the extention handle is fitted to the bottom of the back plate it"s the long extention below the exhaust cover to the right it"s put into the hole in the middle of the plate then the L shape handle is fitted to that so it can be turrned over by hand  .Must have been very hard to turn.On the early tiger the crank handle was a one piece unit,on the late tiger the L-shape handle was straped to the top of the tank by the ariel mount on the right side of the tank B|..hope this helps....Brian

I'd love to see a picture of this set-up. The only pics I have seen are the crank handle fitted into the hole behind the round cover lower down on the rear hull. I have just got the new Haynes book that has a good pic of the restored/made inertia starter but it does not really explain the set-up.
I can't visualise the purpose of the oval shape and the purpose of the two studs????

Thanks ICE,
I have seen that clip before but can't really see what is going on at the back?
I was at Bov on the weekend and the bracket (and engine) is removed from 131. Found these pics, which if accurate, have answered my question.
Thanks for the help guys and if anyone comes across a pic of 'actual' use please post

Mic..
