Battery

Post by Tankbear »

Hi guys my Tiger came with the standard 1700mAh battery and 400mA charger.

Seen a 3000mAh one on ebay for £12 +P&P. Is there any advantage to upgrading as at moment it has plastic gearbox, tracks, etc. Will it just give longer running time?

Also the standard charger takes ages to recharge the 1700mAh battery so is there any alternative chargers available?

Yes the bigger the MAH genurally the longer run time, people with lots of metal parts and heavy tank upgrade their batteries because the heavier the tank the more power it requires to move, so the battery lasts less time!

In my tamiya jag i was running two 4600 MAH batteries and that lasted around 4-5 hours of fun (metal tracks, and ir battling).

just one of those batt's in my hl tiger made it last a good 2 hours.

cheers.

Yeah, as Mat said, go for the highest MAh you can afford, my Sherman only has room for one battery, so I've put in a 5000MAh
Hey man....I just ride 'em, I dunno what makes 'em work.

I got a pair of 5300s off ebay (from Hong Kong) for about £10 each
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-pcs-7-2V-5000mA ... 3caf31dc7f" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(it says 5000mAh but they sent 5300s)
Someone wil prob say they are rubbish but I had my Tiger up to 7.5Kg before I got the softer torsion bars and it ran like a charm, took it out for 20 min drives and it would last at least 5 or 6 runs before charging, actually charging has become more of a 'may as well' rather than requirement.
Get a good variable speed charger too and you are set! :thumbup: Cheers, Dave

Even a standard Tiger works better with a large capacity battery, not only will it run longer but I've seen improvements in speed (power), sounds and the smoker. Doesn't always work that way of course, the Pershing I have still moves like a snail but I suspect there is another problem there.
It is never just "one" tank!

Thanks for link Dave, just ordered myself one. Need to find myself a better charger now, as i'm guessing the standard one would take in the region of 12hours :crazy:

I had noticed that on a full charge the tank felt a lot quicker with obstacles causing no problems, but wasn't long before that had gone.

No worries mate, charger I got was quite cheap, seller doesnt appear to have it anymore but is like this;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Intelligent-Multi ... 19c563e3df" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
maybe contact him and ask? One I got goes up to 3Amp (3000mA) charge rate so charges a 5300 in around 2.5 hours and was £20, not the best but reasonable on a budget :D

found this

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

900mAh output auto shut off etc. Still 6hr charge time though.

Although when searching some chargers said suitable up to 3000mAh batteries. Don't understand why a charger can't charge larger capacity batteries surely it take longer.
