Electrical advice?

Post by dsvirus »

Ok, I have switched everything over to my new asiatam hull and now I have a problem. The tank was working fine until I switched everything over.

Now I have power, to everything, I checked continuity with my multimeter, but the tank wont start. If I connect the upper hull, the lights are working and flashing. I get no sound and no movemment.

The crystals were both and working just before I changed everything over. Any ideas?

Should I start testing using just one circuit at a time. Say gearboxs, sound, smoke etc??

Im still learning all this stuff so any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers

Hi Mark
I still think it is the crystals, they are very tempermental. Check that they are a good fit in their sockets, in both the transmitter and the receiver before you go ripping your circuit boards apart.
I had similar problem with my M26 when it fell off the 6' shelf. I had to buy new ones off Ebay in the end.
Something else I found, was that the transmitter batteries need to be fully charged or new.
Hope this helps.

Is the volume switch turned on ? If you have an RX 18 , make sure the main 8 pin cable is the right way round - the red should be on the left :/ - Don't forget that you need to press the 'start' button on the TX .

I have checked the wiring. Seems ok. I have checked the main 8 pin cable is the correct way around. I have tried the start button. lol. If I connect the top of the tank the lights come on and start flashing. Does this mean the rx18 is working? It was working before I transferred it into my new hull. So I am a bit stumped. I definately have power to the gearboxs etc. So I guess crystals need checking now. Its very annoying!

Swap the crystals if you have spares, or failing that buy some from Ebay. I had to do that recently after my Pershing fell off the 6' high shelf in my garage.

The HL crystals are quite delicate.

Darn those pesky HL crystals! Glad you got it working though. May pay you to buy some spare ones.
