Latex Zimmerit

Post by Bad44Tiger »

I've gotten ahold of some Latex Zimmerit. It's easy to apply and stetch into the places I needed it to. I was just wondering if there is a primer I should be using on it?

as well what can I use to simulate welds?

Hi Will.

Is this the Japanese zimmerit kit which comes with pieces cut to shape and a tube of cement - or some other brand?

I haven't got around to painting mine yet, but judging from the fact that mine is already pre-painted (with a wash of yellow/green) I don't see any problem with adding anything on top of it.

Above is my Heng Long Tiger in its early stages.

One potential problem may be its inherent flexibility - obviously if there's any movement whilst handling the tank then the paint over it may chip / peel away. On the plus side, since the basic tone is an off-white anyway this looks fairly like damage to the real thing!

There are other advantages of this stuff because - with some adjustment and infilling - it can be made to cover some of the gaps in the Heng Long vehicle which shouldn't be visible - e.g. the lower sides of the turret.

The zimmerit I have is exactly like yours. I love the bullet holes, nice effect!
