Jagdpanther final production

Post by Chef_bikes »

This is another of my current 'work in progress' projects - a final production Jagdpanther. It started out as a HL Panther, which I originally intend to convert to an early production 'G' spec (that project is now on a back burner), but while I had it apart I saw a Jagdpanther upper hull on evil bay and it set my mind going....suffice as to say the JP upper hull was duly purchased and when it arrived I pulled it apart and knowing very little about Jagdpanthers, so I purchased a few reference books and got reading....

I decided that the final production version was the one I liked, so, out came the Dremmel and I chopped the mantle, got grinding, cut off the bits I didn't want and got texturing the plate and cast steel. Several weekend later it started looking like a JP again.

I have to admit that I like a heavy AFV, so it has metal tracks, metal suspension, metal gearboxes, metal drive sprocket, metal idlers, metal road wheels, metal shirtzen, metal D hooks and just about as much metal detail as could get on it. I will be adding a fair amount of brass strip and lead on the inside to make her a hefty girl.

I'm now waiting for some paint to show up so the following pics show it before it was pulled apart for paint:

I'm not 100% decided on the final scheme but it'll certainly have a dark green base coat.

Tasty !! looks good and mean even at this stage - I agree with you on the heavy tank front - the heavier the better !!
It always gets darkest before it goes completley black......
