Re: Scratch builders Tiger 1 ????
Hi Sax, Just noticed your rear mudguards. I got some great hinges for my front fenders as the kit ones were wrong. Very cheap also. I am getting more as I am thinking of scratch building new rear guards as my kit ones are not up to scratch. Wrong for a late tiger. When I get in the mood to make them I will add to my post. I might go into production with them as the aftermarket ones available are selling for $250 a set. Probably more than the third reich paid for the real ones. I'm happy with the job I did on the front ones. Just have to add the slider bars and get some wing nuts. Agood site for detail items like false bolts is http://www.panzerwerks.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hi John, of course I could not match the detail of your fine lady, but the issue of after market parts has been on my mind as well. My rear guards are like a mirror image of the correct ones., I was looking at piano hinges but have yet to find them in the right scale.
My details are very generic and need alot of work,I will post mire pics as I have taken my hull apart. It bolts together and as I'm taking it apart I am removing the details and attempting to have the base hull primered and correct some of the bad detail issues.I will say the hull is well made and very solid construction.
As for the hinges John I could use them badly,my front guards are broken on one side and I would prefer to make a proper set. I could use a link or the manufacturer would be best. As far a details I think by taking my tank down to the completely disassembled state and building it back correcting as I go, Also thanks to you I have the perfect example to emulate.

Re: Scratch builders Tiger 1 ????
Hi Blake,
Here is the link to hinge supplier I used. Postage was cheap to Ireland. I used the 40mm on the front. 45MM might be more accurate. For fasteners I use microfasteners.com. They are US based . I would like to have used smaller rivets. got one size too big which I used and one too small. They look OK though. The mudguard supports are from 3mm brass L. I get a lot of my supplies from Squires Tools.

Thanks John,Just been out side as it is beautiful day here except for the 15 ft of water heading our way. I have been working on the turret,removing the very poor and upside down loaders hatch. Thanks for the heads up as I really want the mud guards to work correctly. To me this is a detail overlooked by the 1/16 scale tank manufacturers.
I have many more pictures but have started a rebuild thread, Thanks again for the links, did you look into Du Bro Hardware line? They have a free downloadable PDF Format catalogue of their Hardware. http://www.dubro.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Scratch builders Tiger 1 ????
Thanks Blake, I will check them out. I think I will make new rear mudguards. Ice Monkey did some really nice hinges which would be perfect to attach mudguards to tank. Only problem is I will need to solder and it never works for me. Wish my dad was still alive. He was an excellent metalworker but would probably want to go full size. A lot of my small fittings are pretty low standard. Functional rather that accurate. New Armorteks are much better equiped and come with most of the important aftermarket parts.
Good luck with the weird weather. Hope that wall of water buggers off. Strange weather this year.
