1:1 Scale errr model sort of

Well since I was 8 years old (which was quite a while ago) I have harboured the desire to own a Jeep, As of yesterday and having saved me pocket money for literally a lifetime, ambition fullfilled

Best I can tell, as she was part restored. Is a 1942 willys, held in store in France post war until 1958. Brought to the UK by the previous owner in 2005. He has done some "work", but seems to have been more concerned with the pretty stuff rather than the mechanics of it. That said she is sound and functioning. All I have to do is, get her MOT'd and registered with the DVLA. All I got to do to achieve that is.....replace rear brakes, re-set rear propshaft, gut out the wiring loom and replace the work done by a mad monkey, Replace all the tyres, fix the timing/points/distributor, and buy a bloody great 50 cal (not required for MOT as I understand it ) As you can see, Murray the cat decided he needed driving around to save his little paws.

Very nice, looks like it is solid and in good shape as far as body work and the detail parts. Part of the fun will be sorting out the few issues. If you need parts from the U.S. I can help with that if needed. Very nice indeed. Saxondog

I'm sure you know about the jeeps being used over here as Mail delivery vehicles with the right hand driving position but their are many around especially here in the southern states,the rust free ones. Anyway you might have this link buy just the same I'll post it.

new rear control arms,
new cv drive shaft,
Slip Yolk Eliminator,
Front Diff Locker,
Front Sway bar links
Front wheel bearings
Finding out what that bloody knock in the drivers foot well is............

Andy you joke mate, but I have sat down and tried to scale an LVT that I could sit in ! One day mate, one day. Big public thanks to Saxondog for his generous offer of help aquiring parts. No doubt we will be communicating Dog. Stuck at work today, itching to get home and start poking around and generally taking things apart.

Just a wee update, Done lots of digging with this one. Amazing what you can find out when you know how.
Turns out chassis may have been a 1944 Willys but in or around 1957 she was refurbed by the French,
This is the Hotchkiss chassis number

and the Army acceptance number which is the registered chassis number.

and rebuilt again in 1965. Was accepted into French army service with the reg 025055 as found stamped on the rear spring mount

Bit of mechanical work too

I know its not model related but I tell you, having spent most of my life tinkering with scale bits and pieces its remarkably easy to work on. Ive dismounted the .50 cal post for now...anyone need one ?
Fixed the electricery, Re sat the belly plate, Tuned the engine, secured the battery, greased everything etc etc etc Only thing Im stuck on is the bloody Horn ! which is stuck on !
