Tank virgin questions!

Post by *rakey* »

Hi all

I am waiting for my first tank to arrive, in the meantime i've been doing a bit of research
on the forum, problem is, being a noob some of its got me worried.
The main ones are gearboxes stripping themselves, is it essential i run them in?
Circuit boards frying, is this a problem with the new rx 18 or just the older boards?
Long story short, are there mods to be done out of the box or should i stop worrying an just
get on with my imaginery kursk re enactment! @)
Also what is a sensible order to go through for metal upgrades to minimise stress on other
parts and my wallet?

Cheers in advance from a grateful born again teenager and weekend tank commander
If i'd of kept all the money i'd already spent,
I'd have been a millionaire a long time ago

It depends on the spec's really , the later pro versions are pretty sound anyway , and Dave from Forgebear vets them all thoroughly before despatch so you're off to a good start . Tigers , even the real one's were prone to track troubles in the rough so as long as you don't treat it like a bulldozer it should be fine . ( The itch to 'modify' will begin soon enough . . . . ;D )
to the bouncy room ! Yay !

Ohh god this is the same as airsoft. :D
Stock is good. Upgrades lead to more upgrades. (more expense due to overpriced parts)
If it isn't broken, leave it alone. Then when it breaks, upgrade it.

I bought 3:1 boxes for a HL tank, yes they are good. But they're no way £50 good.

Ha ha, I know what you're sayin Gunshy but the temptations just too much!
Think I'll go along with what you say mechanically but as for cosmetics, dont think i'll be able to help myself. maybe i'll just start off with some metal towing eyes an see how it feels.
Wont be able to go too mad straight away, i'm still under surveillance after buying the tiger
and the missus still isnt impressed!

It's a learning experience which is half the fun, unfortunately if you don't have a stop button like me it can soon spiral out of control. I caught the bug a few months ago and now upto tank #3. As for mods, it's completely up to you and what you and your wallet are happy with. The best idea is to have a solid plan in your head as to what you are after and then research and get advice from the guys here.
As for surveillance, I can't offer any advice but would like some! I'm almost divorced due to all the small and big packages turning up.

Once you start the upgrading it can get out of hand. Mine did. Now I'm on a 1/6 tiger and out of hand has suddenly gone to out of control. Will stop soon.
