Mato Upper Hull for Tiger

Post by dsvirus »

Has anyone got any info about the upper hull from Mato?

I was considering getting the asiatam lower hull to shore up the lower hull etc etc, but I recently purchased Mato wheels, so I started looking at Mato hulls, now I hear there is a new upper hull coming out!

Anyone know anything???? I heard it is coming out in April 2011!

Any comments about the hulls I am looking at? Preferences etc etc?

:/

Cheers forgebear. In relation to the hull lower.

I already mato wheels, is there much differance between the mato and asiatam lower hull?

And can you use HL gearboxes in the Mato version?

Huge difference in hulls. Mato hull is just a metal version of the standard, but Asiatam one has proper torsion bar suspension which is far more accurate, stable and realistic looking. Also an idler adjustment system which will prevent track throwing and exess strain on links, plus it has a much quicker way of removing top hull due to a sprung release rather than screws which require track removal before. Hope this helps, Dave

The Mato lower to upper will also use a spring release. The lower hull is very sturdy, being cast it is also heavy.

I am not sure if April is right, It will most likely be much longer for the complete metal tank to be released as well as they are still working on a few things.

So does a Mato hull need tensioners as well, which are not supplied and hence extra, or are tensioners not required?

I have Mato wheels already, but can yOu mod them to fit the asiatam hull?

If you look here http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... 68&p=60089" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, it appears there is no tensioner, perhaps they deemed it not a requirment. I now see the top hull release and I prefer it to the Asiatam, but still at Welshdragon's price the Asiatam hull is well worth it, and the torsion bars work so well and realistically that it can take a HL to the same level as the Tamiya model for much less money in my opinion. Unfortunately there is not a way to adjust track tension on the Mato hull as you said. Although you could fit one.

It is worth pointing out that the Mato metal tiger is a different kettle of fish to the Asiatam offering. Quite apples and oranges. The Asiatam hull is well worth the money, I've have the Mato hull at the moment and have also just purchased a Asiatam offering, I feel the need to try out the torsion bar suspension over the stock springs.

I have the Mato hull and fitted the asiatam wheels as I think they look better and more quality. Mato hull does not have tensioner and I do have problems with track slipping off. I'm looking at fitting a tensioner.
