Slowest build ever I think!....Anyway, got back from the Sahara last Friday, so did little bits...

Fitted the wecohe light and used a paper clip for the conduit
Image

Took out the led light, as can be seen, waiting for milliput to go off...then I will sand it down, and drill the correct size hole for the gunners sight....also cut off the right hand side debris guard, will file this down and fit the rest of the schurtzen kit...finally!!!
Image

Cut a bit away from the cut out in the front plate for the drivers optic....panther g's had different cut outs, but on the tank I am copying, it is this cut...sort of!
Image
Ps..you can make out the mark of the craft knife when I slipped!...

Evening....green putty went off....drilled a small hole. Used a bit of off cut brass for the rain guard...which I rolled on a small bore screwdriver to get it about right :S

Did a little bit more....

Fitted the mount on the right hand side...had to guess as I have not seen one picture of the mount-
I have found from on the wecohe website that there was a small plate underneath...stripped it down and re-built to their drawing

Here on this close up of the well known picture of the panther with the ir stuff fitted(this is the tank I am replicating)
Image
You can just make out the lamp base......this is the only picture I am aware of....and its the wrong bloody side!..for reference that is

Made the jack block bits too....smallest soldering I have done for a while!

Well done Nic, really enjoying reading about your on going build.

You are certainly throwing large ammounts of skill and effort at this Panther - and boy its paying you back in spades !!

Keep up the great work and photo's

first build? I don't believe you, anyway those hatch arms, just realised you can see a lot of the detail in the pic you posted, the inverted L shapes are the spring arms from 2 coils around the axle on which each arm pivots,I will scan a drawing for the shape of the arm for you,you can see the pins for the rollers also,I think you did the right thing with the IR mount, the plates on the mantlet are the same size as the standard bosch item,so thats a good educated guess,I've seen a blurry pic somewhere that seems to confirm,my next tank a HL Panther, will need some advice from you on any major surgery, yeah good stuff and what MD says

Thanks you guys...honest, first build!...its taken one and almost a half years to get to this stage...so much started, loads not finished, and I see more mistakes that need fixing the more I look at pictures...aargh
