New Member - just joined

Post by mattandsons »

Hi all - just wanted to say hi!

I've jsut bought a VS tank KV-2 and a Heng Long Tiger (the grey one - I paid a bit extra and got one with metal tracks and gearbox)

I've had RC cars all my life, my kids love tanks so finally got round to a couple. My eldest son loves the KV-2, he picked it! They are both tank mad so I'm going to take them to tankfest this year :D I'm lucky that I have a RC shed - keeps me and kids out of mischief and we have a soft spot for Tamiya. I'm also on Tamiyaclub.com. We live in the UK - I've always had a love of tanks and military vehciles and planes too - I think I have been to Duxford more times than I can remeber!

I'm really interested in painting tips and making the Tiger more historically authentic so any points to the right forum sections, much appreciated. In particular tips on painting the metal tracks.

Forum looks great.

Cool, welcome.
My metal tracks have scratched in all the right places. Grey primer, black basecoat and acrylic varnish. But the paint rubbed off within 5 minutes on a smooth surface. Saves me painting them worn.

Welcome Mat and Sons, this link is to a shake and paint technique for track painting. It is at the last three post on the first page.

As far as painting their are several issues to be decided before you paint, mainly what era and which front as these issues will determine the color scheme and other details. The base Tiger from Heng Long is a EARLY model type based on the wheels and copula, air cleaner system and a few other details. This link has the best collection of Tiger information and can guide you to the Tiger you want. http://www.alanhamby.com/tiger.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; cheers Saxondog
