Eduard Schwimmwagen

Post by littletankman »

Hi im looking for advice on converting the static Eduard schwimmwagen to Rc . Ive seen the ones with working props and running in water . And as much as I would like that I think just running on land will be just in my limits of skill , with a lot of help.

At last years War and Peace show a German trader had one hidden behind some other items. I spotted it instantly and asked him how much. He wanted £50. I would have paid £30. I already have one which I intend to RC "one day", but would have liked another to get one built up. But then I have about a dozen kits waiting to be built as well. I also have the 1/6th Dragon Schwimmi too, which will get built and RC'ed "one day" too.

The Eduard Schwimmis pop up on EBay from time to time. Shame no-one else (Tamiya?) can be bothered doing a 1/16th Schwimmi as the detail is truly dreadful on the Eduard. I also have the 1/35th Tamiya waiting tobe built and the detail on that surpasses the Eduard in spades!

Having said that, Tamiya made a dreadful 1/35th Schwimmi 30 years ago too - I built that as a kid and it's in my loft. Just can't kick the Schwimmwagen habit. Fell in love with it as a kid and if I ever win the lottery, that'll be my purchase ahead of any sports car....

Hi,

For those of you interested in these fascinating vehicles, there is a guy on the UK Tank Club forum doing an r/c version in 1/6 scale. It makes very interesting reading and the word "nightmare" comes to mind!

good post, I have an eduard kit still in the box and a Tamiya European Kubel too so your experiences will be really interesting. Never thought about R/c ing it before....

Hi mate its a long way of being started either of them . To many projects on the go. Ive seen the Eduard 1:16 Schwimmwagen rc ed and waterproofed with working prop and also a 4 wheel drive rc version . Think I would be happy with just rc .
