Detail/Accuracy ?

After a good few years I have restarted my passion/interest 1/16 tiger (mid/late) , mines a Heng Long which im modding/upgrading, the problem is I get sooooooo stressed out trying to get it accurate, I would appreciate your views on just when does a enjoyable hobby become a £/$, time consuming obsession.

Im sure you all know what I mean ...is it really worth the stress.......do I just chill and create an acceptable tiger or ............. ?

that question is purely down to the individual and how far do you want to go, or can afford to go , its a hobby at the end of the day so it shouldnt involve stress, if its not going right dont throw it on the floor , walk away and have a cuppa or return to it the next day , but the main rule should be have FUN and enjoy it

surely its better to take your time and enjoy what your doing. I find the more I do the more I enjoy it.

Thanks for the feedback generally I do find the R/C tank upgrading very enjoyable (I must admit I have spent far more than I really wanted to on it) I see some fantastic super detailed tanks which amaze me and inspire me to do more on my tiger, but then I get the "what if they notice" worry if you know what I mean ?

yes i know what you mean , but its your tank so if your happy with it great , we are not here to point out mistakes, but we can give advice and help

In pursuit of accuracy I've nearly cut the end of my thumb off with a Stanley knife today in order to move a return roller down 4.5mm on my Pz IV-was it worth it was what my son asked!

Mark you sound like a perfectionist like me . Thing is I keep perfectionist stuff to my paintings 'cos its easy to alter that, with my tank stuff there are things people on here do that I just cant match, so I keep it within my ability. Also you will find as time goes by you get better, or perhaps a certain tool may help. Best thing is to ask maybe on here 'cos there are a few secrets or hints that you would never think of. Remember you worst critic is yourself! Good luck and enjoy it

I like to model from one division,and I like to have upgraded drives with lots of torque and power not speed. I do like to get the numbering correct and most of the main details.The smaller stuff is not as important,every level here but very few members likely to say you made a mistake unless you ask for an opinion on some detail.

It is your tank. I don't like comments about accuracy unless asked for. If you want help with details there are lots of members here willing to help. I have found the cost of accuracy can get out of hand. I have picked the accuracy disease too. Just got a few hundred brass nuts and bolts to make my tiger hub caps look better. Just have fun and do the best you can. Post lots of pics. At the end of the day it's a Heng long tank. Can it ever be accurate. The term polishing a turd springs to mind. Stay away from late tiger 1 as Heng long will need too many modifications. Adding weld details and getting rid of moulded tools is a good start. Nice paint job and some internal upgrades.
