Another RX18 question
Another RX18 question
So I have an RX18 board now for my Mato Sherman and its running but I have no sound. Do I have to install the volume control or can I just plug the speaker straight into the board? I really don't have a wish to turn it down so is it necessary to make it work correctly? What else could be the issue here? I just purchased 2 new HL receivers to make it all jive so is there anything to adjust on that?

Re: Another RX18 question
you will need the volume control wire as shown plug in and it will make the circuit
Re: Another RX18 question
Ok so the volume control I have only has 2 wires coming off of it and the volume control port has 3 pins. How do I hook that up? Remember, I am adding this stuff to a tank that didn't have any HL parts in it to begin with.

Re: Another RX18 question
if you bought an rx18 with all the wires, you should have a port with a white plug in clip that has a red, blue and black wire. if you are looking at your volume switch with the switch facing away and looking at the wires. the black is on the left, the red and blue are on the right, the red above the blue. if you send me your email address in a pm i will email you a picture. thanks dave
Re: Another RX18 question
I probably should have mentioned this in the first post. I got the bare boards with no wire connections and the volume control I have is from the Mato Sherman.

Re: Another RX18 question
OK.......I have the HL crystals and volume controls in now and it just won't start. I get the lights to flash but the receiver acts like it's not getting a signal of any kind. I have tried 5 different crystal combinations with no luck. The worst thing is that I have 2 new sets of RX18 boards with 2 new HL receivers and all new wiring with the same problem in both of them. What the hell do I do now?

Re: Another RX18 question
i know this sounds silly, but check your tx and rx. make sure the tx is in the handset and the rx is in the tank. make sure the numbers correspond. check the pins in the front of the heng long transmitter to make sure the pins are not loose and that the connection is made when the crystal is inserted. after that, you start to look at the receiver boards. if you have a spare jump wired between the two boards use another one in case you have a faulty one. if still no joy then you will have to look at the rx. cheers dave
Re: Another RX18 question
Sadly, I have done all of that and now think I must do just that. I hate this since these are all new parts and I have over $150 invested in just the electronics of these 2 tanks. Thanks for all your help here guys. Alex.
