Hello from Texas

Post by Alex41 »

Hey there. My name is Alex, I live in San Antonio Texas (not by choice, by military), and I have 2 tanks. One is my baby that I have wanted since I was 4 or 5, and the other is my son's HL Tiger. I've been building models since I was 10 and it's progressed to this as well as full sized costuming like Vader, 300, Clone troopers, Nazgul's, zombies, ect. I also rebuild and customize classic and modern muscle cars. I guess you could say I'm a modern day rennisance man. :haha: Any way, here's my baby. Its a Mato/Tamiya hybrid that I cut, hacked, glued, and beat into an M4A3 GAA. I still have some weathering to do so bear with me as I update it.

Thanks guys. I ordered the 76mm gun kit from a Nick Agular (I think that's how you spell his last name) a while back. I was going to just deal with the 105 but it just wasn't classic enough for me. I grew up watching the move Tank with James Garner and always wanted that exact tank. As it turns out, I may even get a chance to drive one of these for real. I am part of a tank crew here in Texas that will put on a reenactment in March. There are 5 or 6 Allied tanks to man so it comes down to the owner as to who will drive what. We will have the M4A3 Sherman, an M 24 Chaffee, an M5 Stuart, two M 18 Hellcats, a troop carrier, and a friend of his will be bringing his M4A3E8 Sherman. It should be one rocking show to say the least. :D

Damn that sounds like fun, my ultimate dream!! Lucky bugger!!! I think he is Aguilar, nice chap, I played a few rounds with him on a ww2 mod called Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 2 a few months back, asked him about Sherman conversions. Cant wait to do that build!!

You have no idea just how lucky I got here. I hardly ever post on rcuniverse since I faded out of tanking a while back. Just by chance I see a post about a member saying he was to drive a Sherman in a few weeks. I got with him only to find out that weekend was the first meeting of this "tank school" and if I wanted to come along I was more than welcome. Life is funny that way huh?
