What do you guys use instead of clear?

Post by dsvirus »

Hi guys, I am following the weathering thread. I have primed my tiger in black and will begin spraying the gray soon. Looking ahead, I see clear polish was used to seal the tank in until the next layer of detail can be applied. I looked everywhere today but couldnt find any clear polish anywhere.

I think it has been stopped. Has anyone found a replacement? Or do you use gloss varnish instead!

Could people let me know any tips! I would be grateful.

I purchased one of these last time I was in Sainsbury, does it work like the old Klear?

I'm probably a little way from actually needing to use it! :D

I've used it with no problems ,new bottle , that's all . same stuff as far as i can tell . btw it isn't a wax , just a clear acrylic varnish that has been formulated to be removed with amonia .

Great stuff, the only difference I've noticed between the products is the new one has a slightly milky colour to it. Good news, they currently sell for £20 on eBay for the old branding.

Hi,
It is probably only the bottle colour that has changed, now it is white ...this item number 330518636294 on ebay at £4.99 with £2.49 postage has exactly the same label and seems to coat the same type of surfaces...so that is £7.48 delivered to your door ! :D

Ok I will check out the new klear. Although I have seen mixed reports about it.

What do you think about this? Would it work?

Hi, :~
I am not very sure about the laminate stuff ..........BUT..........
I have been digging around for information and have found this excellent piece of work which should be THE ANSWER to all questions about KLEAR or rather ALL of its other names in most relevant countries !!!! :D :D

It certainly helps me out here in France........... :~

Just bought the same bottle, 1st time user.
The Jagdpanther is now quite shiny. A little darker.
I hope that a final satin varnish will flatten it a little bit.
Oh and it now smells like a brothel. :S

Well, I would be interested to see how you get on when the model is finished. Any discolouring?

Let me know how it settles on the tank. I will have to get the new stuff I reckon.

Where did you get it, from tesco etc?

Is anyone here from america?
They have the original non perfumed brand I think, annoying as they wont let you order it from the states.
