Pinions (not opinions)

Post by nickmow »

Seeking knowledge from your collective model egineering genius's. Need to replace a pinion in a gear box on my little Dickie Amphystar. How is a pinion described ? By diameter or teeth or the shaft it fits on or a combination ? It has 9 teeth is nylon and I think the shaft is about 1mm. Is there a source for this type of thing, having rifled through the spares box and come up bare.

Hi Nickmow

You will need to know the pitch of the pinion (Exact distance between the top of each tooth), and the number of teeth. The hole through the middle is called the bore size.

Hope this helps
