Update:
I decided to tackle the loader's hatch external details, the counter balance assembly. I used a couple ball point springs and a couple pieces of copper wire. Here is what I came up with.
Update:
I made new hatches for the driver and co driver. The vision periscopes also rotate like the the comander's periscope rotates. I made the guards from heavy copper wire. Here are the latesest pics of the hatches.... Harold
I've got a DiSemone plastic Hertzer, so I was interested in this build thread. Have you made your Sherman a working model? I need to open mine up and get the hatches to work, but the wheels are a bit ......
I may have some viper sherman boggies, sprockets and track left over from the 3 viper sherman builds and will see if I make them work on this one. Panzerwerk sells tracks road wheels sprockets for the Hetzer so upgradeing it wouldn't be that hard
I'll have to look at the Panzerworks website. I am hoping to r/c mine and do something about the gun and mantlet as it's a big moulding, with just a tube barrel.
Well been awhile since I posted anything on my JD Sherman. So here's an update:
Since I have some leftover viper Sherman parts I figured it would be great to replace the rotomolded bogies and the track. For the rear idler I used the JD one. I split it into 2 halves then filled each half with some fiberfil bondo then before the bondo went off I put the 2 halves back together. I had the removed idler mounts from JC's Sherman and used them on the JD sherman. I had to replace the broken spring guides on the viper bogies with some aluminum flashing material. With some mods I mounted the viper bogies on the JD hull. Once painted should look alot better, and alot better than the stock rotomolded suspension and track. Here are pics of the latest work on the JD Sherman. Again comments are welcomed.... Harold
It's looking good with all the extra parts. I have ferreted my hertzer away at the moment while I finish my 1/6 Cromwell. I want to try and get that off the workbench first. I have contacted Panzerworks but not heard yet although he works away in the film industry, so might be away on a photoshoot at the moment.
