MATO New Tiger Metal Lower Hull

Post by Saxondog »

Well I read the fine print, they claim a water tight lower hull, metal design with back plate. Their offering this as a package deal lower hull system. Just can't see the water tight part but here is the link see for your selves.

I have taken a closer look, they seem to of molded a lower section with the standard coil spring control arm system, this is how they can claim water tight lower hull, their are seals listed for the drive shaft possibly,

Their price is 199.99 us which is rather high from my point of view.Using the old system of control arms with shaft type coil springs. I wonder how much they weigh? Sax

It would be interesting to see how this compares quality-wise with the Asiatam hull. On the face of it, these's quite a price difference and the suspension is less authentic (in that the real tank used torsion bars).

The plus points would be that in theory the hull is watertight, plus not having the torsion bars across the base of the tank would leave a bit more internal space for bigger batteries, electronics etc....

Doesn't look bad value as part of their discounted Full Metal Kit Special though.

The Asiatam hulls have a component tray, I'm not sure how this new hull would work out as far as component placement and securing the different components. Since the hull is metal,is it aluminum or steal? This does effect the use of magnets to secure parts.

And the placement of components would require some sort of insulation as the metal hull can be a grounding source. I just don't see the value, the old system of control arm mounting would question the advantage of this hull? The Asiatam hulls were very expensive at first and the price now has dropped a good bit.

I guess we will have to wait and see, perhaps their are benefits I don't see. Sax

hi the weight of the hull is 1260 grams not monkey metal and they are doiing a bottom plate to fit the price well mato sell them at 199 but i can get them from the factory so the price would be from me £89.99. free postage to forum members has a quick release on the back plate as well the bad side is its based on the plastic hull so gearboxes still screw in

If that is a fully machined hull as it looks like, the price is good indeed... the asiatam is just a drop in... this is much more substantial - if they had a Jagdpanther one, I'd buy it.

Prefer the Asiatam suspension system. I would be more interested in a metal upper hull and turret to fit the Asiatam lower hull. Asiatam still my favourite for components and value. Like the metal rear plate though.

He he....second that!...silly mistakes, its like they just took an impression of the heng long back panel, and put it straight into production. they supply upgrade parts, but get the little things like this wrong
