PZIV problems

I got my HL PZIVF1 the other day and I've found that the l/h track(looking from the back) won't go into reverse.

Is this an easy problem to fix, or what components should I upgrade?

Hi Sounds like the board has blown the fet for reverse on that side,repair is to change the main board ,if you have the rx 14 you can use any board RX13 RX14 OR RX 18,contact forgebare he stocks the boards send him a P.M.

Pete's right. It sounds like a transistor has blown on your board.
If your PZIV is a recent model, then it should have a RX-18 main board in it. I'm surprised that the RX-18 has blown as I've found these to be fairly bulletproof as standard. My PZIV has an RX-18 and Darkith Battle Sytem and behaves perfectly.
Did anything "bind" a track that would result in a mainboard overload ?

Ok, I've opened the tank and taken a photo of the board.

I noticed that the resistor at the top right hand corner of the CPU was bent over and touching one of the CPU's legs.

so I'm guessing that the CPU has been damaged.

My question now is what is the control board, what do I replace it with and how do I do it?

Hi Craig,

That's an early RX-13 board, all-in-one, 2-speed. These blow transistors quite readily, I'm afraid.

Forgebear/Welsh Dragon will probably have these. If not:

And it looks like yours is a 27 MHz version (the white sticker on the big black chip).

You CAN'T replace this board with the RX14 or RX18 without getting new Transmitter electronics too. Only with another RX13.

If you are happy with a soldering iron - I suspect not - then it is easy to replace the transistors on the heatsink that are blown, much less so the multi-transistor block that is hidden beneath it and which is likely to have blown too. In short it's best to replace the lot. This will still involve some soldering though.

You could go the whole hog and convert to multi-speeds and the RX18 board:
