Anyone here familiar with Tiger 1 using wheel bearings?

Post by Yellowshaker »

hey guys! I am in the process of converting my Asiatam lower hull to Tamiya axles and Wecohe Late road wheels. Everything is going according to plan but I have a question. I did not receieve the wheels yet but they should be coming soon. I did get the axles, a set of Tamiya wheel bushings and a set of wheel bearings from Mitosal specifically for the Tamiya Tiger 1. Now, the stock bushings are flanged and the beearings I got are not. Does this matter?

I did not use the Asiatam axles, but I did use a set of wheels that have an inner bushing the wheels spin on. But to achieve a tight fit I placed a metal washer against the control arm and a plastic washer between the metal washer and the wheel hub. Possibly the washer combination will work for your application?

If not tap the arms and use shoulder bolts, you may have to cut of some threaded section of the bolt but it is much more flexible system and solid. Absolutely zero wheel play or wobble. Saxondog

Thanks Blake, but this is an entirely different setup than the asiatam. I have to use the Tamiya axles to assemble the wecohe wheels. they are a larger diameter than the asiatams and they are specifically set up to take bushings or bearings. It seems that the Wecohe wheels are designed to take these bearings as well, so it should come together fine. i will post pics when the wheels arrive, if anyone is interested.
