Leibstandarte panzer 111 numbers

Post by Johnf »

Any body got tank numbers from Leibstandarte panzer 111 at Kursk. Alternative divisions also considered. Need some markings for new panzer 111 build. Any interesting photos also welcome.

John, are you needing specific number information or the actual numbers? I can print any decal you need with the Testors decal maker kit which I use for my Tanks. cheers Saxondog

Hi Blake, numbering kit is new to me. I can paint the numbers if necessary. I was just looking for an actual panzer 111 tank number go the Kursk period tanks that would have supported the tigers. I will have a look at that kit. Very interesting. Does it do all scales?

The kit is spray bonder and decal paper that works with Ink Jet printer only, the disk is misleading and does not allow you to make any decals beyond the ones in the disk file, which are car or aircraft decals only.

What I do is use windows Paint ,copy a photo of the decals you need. Then open that picture with paint. You can select a block of the sheet and open that in a new window. Adjust the size and print normally on paper, then print on the decal paper, wait a good half hour after printing and spray the decal sheet with bonder.

Thier is a disk in the kit but it only allows you to print certain decals. Still the bonder works very well giving the decals a flexibility and making placement very easy with out distortion. Custom decal system # 9198 from Testors is the one I have used, the paper comes in clear or white,I use the white # 9202.

Not sure how well this will work on Zimmerite coating, and I advise printing samples on regular paper then once you have the size correct print on the decal paper.

The pictures are from 1/18 scale decals from Monkey depot, they make a good template for up sizing to 1/16 then reprint the complete sheet or just the section of the sheet you want.

They look really good. Not much chance of getting something like that here. Only a couple of model shops countrywide and very little specialist stuff. You should Market them. The decals I Have seen are Pedinghaus. Expensive and not so much choice if you are not doing a tiger. I contacted Forgebear about those smokers. He is trying to get them but having customs problems. I might get them from the US. I might ask the Elmod if they can be wired to Elmod first and what is the best connection option. I tried connecting the bengkulu where the motor connects to the board. Smoke output was low probably as connection was only to one motor.
Do you base your numbering on actual tanks or just make up based on the general numbering system for divisions?
