Battle Units Which One?

Post by shotgun »

What battle units would you folks recommend for the RX 18 board? Elmod or the David Battle Circuit system. I need to start thinking about what to get as my build progress where to place the additional gear at. Any pro's or con's on the systems. Thanks Shotgun

Hi Shotgun It comes up alot this question ,It all depends on your budget,El-mod is very good but its also bit expencive,you can operate it from Heng Long radio or buy something like Planet 5 2,4ghz radio to operate it .The Dbc from Darkith is the cheapest fully Tamiya compatable system ,comes in kit form from Darkith or built ready to install from Phil (Blitzkieg).
Take a look at this post here a good write up of most of the systems.http://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/v ... f=77&t=919" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you can afford it go for El-mod

If you want somthing cheap yook at my post for items for sale. I have a new unused Heng Long battle unit. Does anybodt know if the Elmod can pick up signals from the Henl Long and the Heng long from the Elmod. I am in Ireland and have nobody to battle with so battle systems are not high on my list of priorities. My tank does have Elmod boards and I will probably fit an Elmod battle system at some stage.

Thanks 971wright for Ex_Pat's link that is very good information. I noticed the dates of the link, is the hobby moving in the direct of the Elmod with hit features for battling (i.e. the strikes on the side turret and such) away from the tamie style of battling. The reason I ask, the battle systems cost will add up fast if you have to switch to another system, I would like to spend my few precious dollars only once on a system. Feed back on that thought (where the hobby is going with battle systems) would be appreciated. So if the Elmod is the way if the future I guess I will bite the bullet then and get. Thanks Shotgun

Hi The Tamiya system is the standard we have to use (Codes they use inside the battle system)Tamiya are very good ,but I think El-mod has more features ,and the sounds from El-mod can be changed to suit the Tank,Tamiya just have set sounds E.G. German armour Tiger, King Tiger, Panther and PanzerIV all use the same units ,russian KV1,American Sherman and Pershing.If at some stage you did a scracth build of say a Cromwell you can program the El-mod to suit .They are about the same price as Tamiya ,El-mod also have different setups for the drive for the motors and gearboxes so they drive better.
El-mod is also a little easyer to set up with a Heng Long tank,Tamiya can be a little difficult to wire Heng Long recoil units to them .

Thanks for the info, I am leaning towards the Elmod even though the price hit is steep. Looks that is way of the future for IR battles. Thanks shotgun
