Heng Long Stug

Post by Tankie »

I'm working on improving my Stug at the moment and would like to know if grey non Zimmeritt is a realistic finish?
I've looked on this site and the web and most kits seem to be finished in sand with or without camo. Any guidance greatly appreciated.

I think they did come in grey, I think I seen some Stugs on the telly that would have been grey with a whitewash applied that was quite worn off. Is you Stug standard at the moment? As I'm also wondering aboutsome grey/white paintscheme for my Tiger as I have no xperience of airbrushing or equiment to try anything other than brush. I did a quick google for ya and came up with some images but sadly none in colour from the time, here's some models/museum pieces/paintings:-

Hopefully somebody else might chime in :)

The grey is an accurate color choice and can be really well done with dusting and washes to take the heavy color edge off.

my stug was dark grey, but winter wash has changed the look....

I have seen plenty of pic of Stugs in grey, so it's a good choice. The one thing I have never seen is an immaculate Stug, they all seemed to have had a very hard life on the front, and most are battered and dented. I was thinking of re painting mine in grey, as things like rust streaks always seem to look more realistic on a grey finish, but that's just a personal thing.
