Heng Long smoke unit with Elmod

I am wondering what is the best way to connect a Heng Long proportional smoker to an Elmod equipped tank. I would like smoker to operate when engine running rather than just connected to battery and smoking all the time. Can it be connected to motor wiring? Any body have suggestions.
