Or build a monster and plow through it all, Xrad has built several Heng Long tanks with Tamiya metal lower hulls that are really quality builds, but I agree long grass can be a pain. But what ever you decide pay close attention to the details as Forgebear has pointed out their are those who seem to be in business to rip people off. And then let us know when your tank arrives. cheers Saxondog

Just been browsing and nearly ready to buy.
Found these:
http://cgi.ebay.de/RC-PANZER-1-16-TORRO ... 291wt_1104" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://cgi.ebay.de/NEU-OVP-RC-PANZER-TI ... 551wt_1024" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not heard of Torro? What are they like? The detail seems good but what are the mechanicals like? The Tiger especially I am tempted by as I really want the camo version like this.

Torro,WSN,Matorro are the other brands that compete with Heng long. The quality and electronics are not as good as Heng long but the exact type of electronics I'm not sure of, both these seem like old stock. They did also offer a grey Tiger that had nice detailing but the control systems were inferior to the RX18.

http://www.matorro.com/home_35.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Check out this vendor, they list all the brands and can give you a better idea of the differences. I'm not saying to buy from them but they are the only vendor I know that sells all the brands.

Thanks.
I'll give it some thought before I buy then. Guess it is down to how much and how harshly I use it too, if they are slightly less well built. They just seem to have more overall detail than the Heng Long ones.

Have seen that Tiger site before. Very good source.

there is always a trade off. Get the tank you want and upgrade later if needed.

nothing like some experience under your belt to make of the hobby what you will.

Well, I took the plunge and ended up buying the Torro Tiger I posted above.
Actually, I also got the T34 so I can battle.

First impressions. Well not having had anything before they seem decently powerful and the colouring and general detail are very nice, the main reason I bought them was the Desert Camo on the Tiger.
The main comment, is the old one of speed control. They are somewhat limited and have fast or stop I think! Perhaps a little less control than I had hoped,would have liked even considering they are more basic as commented above. I am guessing the Heng Longs are much better in this respect, but I also suspect when I open it up it wouldn't be impossible to change some of the electronics.

Overall I am happy with them and they will be good fun with an opposing partner to play with.

I think a Heng Long one will still find its way into the house at some point though :)
