Hello from Ireland
New to Radio Control. Have a Heng Long Tiger 1. Stripped down for upgrade at present. Up grades taking place include,
High voltage flash and gun recoil, Metal barell, Metal mussle, Metal commanders hatch correctly aligned, Wheel to gunners hatch,
Metal turret view slots, Metal pistol port correct alignment, Meta loaders hatch, Re application of Weld lines to all armour,
Spare metal tracks on Turret, Metal Driver and machine gunners hatches, Brass etch engine covers, Hope to add Mantlet MG and change LEDs to white. Metal headlights. Headlights may get LED change as they are too bright.
All tools removed and replaced with metal and some with wood handles, Wood block added. plastic removed, Metal air vent,
All cables changed to copper/steel versions, Metal spare tracks to front of hull, Metal drivers view slot. (Hint do not go chopping pieces off your hull until you have the upgrade parts. Did not realize that armour in front of view slot was not included in parts upgrade and ripped the plastic part off. New home made metal part looks far better)
Asiatam metal Hull with all upgrades, Bearing axle supports,
All metal wheels including road wheels with bearings, HG Metal tracks, 3:1 gear reduction, IR battle system, 8 ohm speaker. Takes up a lot of free space
Resin crew from Verlinden and some tank riding grenadiers from Tiger models.
Looking for suitable material for filter tubes.
Ordered El-mod Blaster, Jamarra 4 channel radio and receiver.
Undecided on question of Elmod ThinkTank Pro or Eco version.
Does anybody out there have any advice on Elmod ThinkTank Pro with Tiger 1. Some of the feature appear to be of more benefit to antitank gun. Do not know if other features will be of any benefit.
May ditch the smoke unit due to speaker space.
Paint scheme not fully decided. One of Wittmanns early models. Wanted to go with Grey scheme. Looking into S04 Still researching. May go with Kursk version. Not too bothered about complete historical accuracy. I know a lot of people are. Hope to get some photos soon.
Tanks are a disease. The cost of this one just keeps going up.

come on now ICE....you know you can't quit this...it would be like giving up football and the pub

Johnf: my advice, run while you have the chance!!! but judging from you plan above it is already way too late for you and I will have to shift my efforts to the next new recruit.
Re: Hello from Ireland
Sorry my bad I see in your post where you listed the Asiatam Hull. I can say from experience it is well worth using. I did mod the control arms by tapping then to 3.5mm and used shoulder bolts for axles. That is also how my addiction started. Cheers Saxondog

Re: Hello from Ireland
I'm only doing this as practice for somthing bigger. Came across the Armortek site and want one but missed out on the last tiger production. No point getting the Current Panther as I would still want a Tiger. Thought the Heng Long would be a good introduction to remote control. Decided to go with the Kursk camo scheme. Started spraying base colours.

You have made so much metalize on your tank! Great job.

Have to stop work on the project for now. going on holiday. Got the basic painting done. Will upload some pictures of progress soon. Kursk wittmann paintjob. New airbrush. Happy with camo but will need some weathering.
