Hi had some free time so jumped back on this . This is the second attempt at mounting the leaf spring suspension , the first attempt was aimed at acuracy were as this will look ok once its finished and be more substantional , I hope .


This is the pertruding swing arm mounts . They are the brass spigots used on the Hl Tiger/Pantiger suspension.


This shows the steel bar between the the metal sleeves that the brass spigots fit into. I have added small bolts to tighten these to the steel bar , which I filled a flat surface so they can grip. I do need to sort the front one out yet. Im going to add metal strengthening strips to hold all this in place. and strengthen the outside edge .I did think of making an Asiatam bottom but the strengthening strips will be ok , I hope.

Heres the altered stock HL plastic Pz.III swing arms in position . I drilled out the mounting hole so it would fit the brass spigot , and the fitted the metal tube insert for mounting the wheels . I supose I could of used metal upgrade arms . But as im out of work trying to keep the costs down ( could be altered at a later date tho ) . Just need to make the leafspring part.

I have partiuly strengthened the suspension mounts . And have started the leaf springs . These wont be 100% accurate but will look reasonabale and work to . I have the four of these to do and then mount the front two spiggots . I have managed to get some Pz.III swing arms , thanks Alan so will mount them once they arrive then its just fitting the return rollers and the wheels . And after some other detailing getting closer to fitting the Rc unit and spraying it .

Hi Nick , thanks mate I dont think Im that good and theres certainly better out there . Ive had a couple of goes at diferent methods of mounting the leaf springs . And I think Ive cracked it now . I have made one and fixed it to the tank . I will post a couple of picts later .

Heres the leaf springs fitted to one wheel set up . There ugly and not 100% acurate but will work as the originals and will look beter once finshed and sprayed . Baring in mind you wont see much of it once the wheels and schuzens fitted. The suspension is very springy , but if it doesnt hold up I will just add some more strips to the suspension. I was aiming at a system based on the original and that would function and hold up.


I mounted the black plasic mounting points before I thought of adding the brass , and counter sunk the bolt heads . Originaly using sloted ones . Oce the brass was added I switched to bolt head ones.


Heres the inside showing a brass plate to strengthen the mounting point.

Hi i have now re worked the leaf spring suspension as it needed to be mounted further away from the body of the tank .


Still ugly but it works .


Here is a side shot with the road wheels in place . You can see the drive sprocket is a bit under size as it should overlap the front road wheel. still more to do yet but moving on .
