Gear grease? which type

Hi i just out of impulse used DX three multipurpose lithium 2 grease on my tamiya pershing (because i already have a big tub of it), it has mainly metal and some plastic gears but i was wondering is that the right grease too use? or does it matter..

I use motorcycle chain lube it sprays on thin then goes sticky so stays on but what you are using should be ok.
