What size monitor/resolution do ppl use?

Hi, I want to get an idea of what size monitors and what resolution most people on here use so maybe we can adjust pics we post accordingly?
I just showed a friend some of my Tiger 1 pics on his parents computer using a 17" monitor @1024x768 and it seems to clip more than a third of the pic off.
I posted the pics on my comp with 22" monitor @ 1680x1050 so the pics where fine for me but I didnt really think of other people
So yeah just say the numbers I asked for above and in future we (mainly me ) can alter pics so everyone can view properly.

hey mark,

I think its best is everybody tries to keep pictures at a medium, 800x600 is best because they wont get torn apart of make the web page go messed up when they are viewed on small screens - just makes every bodies life easier

for my 2p worth, 1024x768 is probably the most common these days for screen resolution and photos 800x600 are fine. I find that most of the photos posted are severely clipped as they are being posted too big and you don't get to see them.

Thanks for replies. I have just checked all the pics I have posted so far and none are above 864 pixels wide yet get clipped a lot. I checked exactly where the pics are cut off, opened the pics in paint (which shows the pixel number that the cursor is on) and it showed 557 wide @1024x768 desktop res and 717 @1280x1024. So perhaps a more reccomendable picture size would be around 550x412 so the entire picture is seen @1024x768 resolution?
Or perhaps is there a possibility to extend the barrier around text and pictures of the site??
