Hello Gents
I know I have read it on here somewhere but what would be a good colour for painting tracks. Sure it was a black snd red brown mix??

Re: good colour to paint tracks ??
Hi GLyn I paint my tracks different colours depends on how I weather the rest of the tank but dark brown then a bit of brick red and then dry brush with gun metal or silver will give you a good effect check out my bulldog in the show off section to see the results hope this helps.

Thanks Stevie
The bulldog looks great. Think I will give your technique a try. Your tracks look well worn but subtle, I like it

Hi Glyn,
as Stevie said it depends on how you weather the tank, I think also what front the tank was used on but more importantly what tank it is.
If you could mention those things im sure someone will have some pics to help.
Cheers,
Dave

I always paint my tracks flat black and then give them a good dusting of flat earth, and if they are metal tracks after about 30 seconds running they wear great

Re: good colour to paint tracks ??
Thanks for the tips guys, In the end I went for spraying them matt black and then dry brushing them with a metallic colour called bare steel. Was thinking of adding a rusty coloured wash but am so pleased with the results as they are that I will leave them without the wash. The tracks are metal ones on a KV 1 so hopefully when the tank is used the tracks will kind of weather themselves,
Almost finished the KV now so hopefully will get some pics of in the show of section soon

Good job! Matt black tracks look great!! I think for Russian front you should put a bit of rust in there but clearly its your choice lol.
It can be good to make the common contact surface the natural silver colour like the Churchill in the rctankwarfare sign at top of page,
and like my Tiger pics toward bottom of this post: http://rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewt ... =22&t=5800" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Looking forward to your finished pics

For metal tracks i think Flat Black is a good base, then depending on what look you are after i.e muddy, dusty or rusty choose your colour wisely, but personally i would not worry about trying to get the worn look with paint to much, because it wont take long for the tracks to wear themselves, like here on fynsdad's Super Pershing
